NE London People’s Inquiry into NHS: 25 Oct 2013

The People’s Inquiry into London’s NHS has been established with support from Unite the Union, on the basis of seeking to piece together a picture of health care across all 32 boroughs. It is genuinely open to all who wish to participate. The Panel includes well-known, independent figures including Roy Lilley and the Guardian’s Polly Toynbee.
We are throwing the net as wide as we can, in the hopes of drawing in the widest possible variety of viewpoints, and all relevant information.
This is why we are inviting not only campaigners, patient groups, charities, community groups, pensioners organisations and health workers – regardless of whether they are members of Unite or any other trade union or professional organisation – but also NHS organisations, councillors and officers from the GLA and London boroughs, especially those which have joined local campaigns, Health & Wellbeing Boards, Health Watch, and London politicians and political parties.
This is a genuine opportunity to share your views on a London-wide basis, and to help shape the report from the Inquiry, which will be published in the New Year, and form the basis for further discussions on policies and proposals going forward.
What you can do to get involved and support the Inquiry:
Ø     Attend your local public hearings. Come along to one of five local Public Hearings. These are taking place at:
·       SW London Weds Oct 23: 2pm-7pm, York Gardens Library, 34 Lavender Rd Battersea SW11 2UG.
·       NE London Friday Oct 25: 2pm-7pm, Vestry House Museum, Vestry Rd, Walthamstow E17 9NH.
·        and  Central London Friday Nov 1: 2pm-7pm, Archway Methodist Central Hall, Archway Close, London, N19.
·       NW London Friday Nov 8: 2pm-7pm, Ealing Town Hall, New Broadway, Ealing, W5 2BY.
·       SE London Friday Dec 6: 2pm-7pm, Lessoff Auditorium, Lewisham Hospital.
·      Give oral evidence. You can do this at one of five local Public Hearings.  If you would like to speak to the panel or you know someone who should, contact us at:
·      Provide testimony. If you are not too sure about speaking at a public meeting but still want to tell us your ‘story’ then contact us at:
·      Summit written evidence.  Organisations can submit specific written evidence and comments on issues of concern, up to a maximum of 3,000 words, up until December 1. If you work for an organisation you think should provide evidence they can contact the inquiry at:

Manna House re-dedication: 12 Oct 2013

You may recall a fire in the High Street which destroyed Allan Irvin jewellers and also severely damaged the Manna House upstairs.

It’s now back up and running and they are having a re-dedication service on Saturday 12th October 2013 commencing at 11 am. Weather permitting it is hoped to hold this outside the premises, at 33a High Street, Barkingside, with a short re-dedication led by Revd. Jan Larkins, minister of Hainault Baptist Church plus talks from Charlie Musker, Chairman of TMH and from the Mayor of Redbridge. The Mayor will then cut a ribbon across the front door before a reception with food and drink is held upstairs. All welcome.
