28 Oct 2014: Local Forum - Ilford

Redbridge Local Forum
Tuesday 28 October 2014
6pm to 9.15pm
Redbridge Central Library, Clements Road, Ilford, IG1 1EA.
This is the first of the flagship community engagement meetings of the new Labour administration which replace Area Committees. There is no formal agenda.

· Problems in your local area?
· Want to get involved to change things?

Come to a Local Forum and talk to us about ideas and issues in your local area. Raise questions and concerns about Council services that affect you.

Local Forum meetings will be held every month at venues across the Borough.
There will be two parts to each Local Forum: a Market Place and a Question Time. Most Local Forums will be held in the evening and occasionally some will be held in the day.

Market Place (6-7pm)
The first part of the Local Forum is the Market Place. You can browse stalls staffed by Council officers and Councillors to discuss issues that affect you, including planning, litter, parking, benefits and housing.
Partners including the Police, Neighbourhood Watch, Liberty Credit Union, HealthWatch and local voluntary sector groups will also be at the Market Place.

Question Time - 7:15pm
The Market Place will be followed by a more formal Question Time, where you can put questions to Councillors and senior Council officers. Questions can be submitted in advance using the form at www.redbridge.gov.uk/localforums or asked on the night.

17 Oct 2014: Little Rock at Cricklefields

Hi friends
We have three more great acts for you this week at Ilford Sports Club.
Bob Gilbert played a fine set of his varied songs on Sunday in the Walled Garden so if you missed him then here's another chance to catch his performance.
Caitlyn R is a brand new act for us - another talented local teenager with songs of her own and some great covers. Topping off a great evening's music we welcome back Little Rock, an excellent rock/country/Americana/blues band led by songwriter & guitarist Del Browne. The band were a big hit at several local festivals this summer including our own Green Fair and Midsummer Music Fest, as well as the Wanstead Festival last month.
We hope to see you there
Best wishes

16 Oct 2014: Listening with King George & Queen's Hospitals

You Talk, We’ll Listen!
Your Listening events with King George and Queen’s Hospital

Date: 16 October 2014
Time: 2.30pm to 4.30pm
Place: Fullwell Cross Library, 140 High Street,
Barkingside, Ilford, IG6 2EA.

Places Still Available

Please join us at our first series of listening events to share your views about our local hospitals. We want to focus on the issues that you feel are important and directly affect the care you and your relatives receive when visiting our hospitals. Healthwatch and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospital trust (BHRUT) have created an event called “You Talk, We’ll Listen” to give residents the chance to share their view, concerns and to provide feedback on any other the health and social services that are being provided.

As it is local residents like yourself that use these facilities, it is YOU that matter and YOUR feedback can help change them for the better. You will be sharing your views directly with Chief Executive Matthew Hopkins and senior staff from the Trust.

This week in the Ilford Recorder a number of concerns have been raised.

“Casualty crisis sparks call to halt A&E closure”
Campaigners have renewed calls for A&E closure plans to be scrapped after another London trust faced a beds crisis following the closure of one of its units. The Save King George Hospital campaign has urged Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust to ditch its long running proposal to close King George A&E, centralising services at Queen’s Hospital in Romford.

“Queen’s sees rise in patient complaints”
The level of patient criticism of Queen’s Hospital increased by more than half in the three months leading up to June. The BHRUT Romford hospital, which treats patients from Redbridge, received 26 negative comments through feedback site NHS choices in the first quarter of 2014/2015, an increase of 53 per cent compared with the total between February and April.

“Trust plan to instil pride after 42% of staff suffer stress”
Nearly half the staff members at the health trust running hospitals serving Redbridge patients suffered from work-related stress last year. A survey of workers discussed at last week’s Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT)’s board meeting showed 42 percent had suffered stress caused by work in 2013.

“Report: Cancer care ‘among UK’s worst’"
The trust that runs King George Hospital is among the 10 worst in England for cancer patient experience, according to a league table published by MacMillan. Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is sixth from bottom, the cancer support charity said, “dedicated staff are making enormous efforts” to improve the quality of care”

If you have been affected by any of these issues, please come along or get in touch and tell us what you think needs to change to improve services. If you have any issues regarding health or social care in Redbridge than we want to hear from you.

For more information or if you would like to attend please email communications@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk or call 01708 503624.
