16 Nov 2015: Crossrail accessibility - Meeting TfAll

Crossrail accessibility: more than just stepfree stations!
Monday 16th November 2015 – 2-4pm
Fifth floor, Redbridge CVS, Forest House, 16-20 Clements Rd, Ilford IG1 1BA

Last year, after lots of campaigning, we were thrilled when Transport for London and Department for Transport announced that every Crossrail station – including Seven Kings - would be made stepfree.

But there’s so much more to transport access than having a lift. Join Redbridge Transport Action Group’s next meeting to discuss what else we’d like to see from this new railway. From wheelchair spaces on trains to station signage, this is your opportunity to tell Crossrail representatives what your priorities are.

We will be joined by Cliodhna Loughney, Crossrail train engineer, and Jonathan Baggs, also from Crossrail, who will tell us more about plans for station design.

We’ll also be hearing from members Abdul Jamil and June Kelsey about their recent trip with local MP Mike Gapes, showing him the challenges that disabled and older people face on the railways.

Please let us know you are coming by calling Transport for All on 020 7737 2339 or email lianna@transportforall.org.uk. Refreshments will be provided.

Redbridge CVS is a short walk from Ilford Station (no stepfree access…yet!) and is served by buses 25, 86, 123, 128, 145, 147, 150, 167, 169, 179, 296, 364, 366, 369, 396, 462, W19. Don’t hesitate to phone Transport for All if you’d like assistance planning a journey.

The venue is accessible, but should you have specific requirements, for example, a speech-to-text or a BSL signer, please contact Transport for All by 6th November.

16 Nov 2015: Local Forum - Chadwell

Redbridge Local Forum
Monday 16 November 2015
6pm to 8:45pm
Marjorie Collins Centre,
237 Grove Road, Romford, RM6 4XF

These forums are the new community engagement meetings which replace Area Committees. There is no formal agenda.

· Problems in your local area?
· Want to get involved to change things?

Come to a Local Forum and talk to us about ideas and issues in your local area. Raise questions and concerns about Council services that affect you.

Local Forum meetings will be held every month at venues across the Borough.
There will be two parts to each Local Forum: a Market Place and a Question Time. Most Local Forums will be held in the evening and occasionally some will be held in the day.

Market Place (6-7pm)
The first part of the Local Forum is the Market Place. You can browse stalls staffed by Council officers and Councillors to discuss issues that affect you, including planning, litter, parking, benefits and housing.
Partners including the Police, Neighbourhood Watch, Liberty Credit Union, HealthWatch and local voluntary sector groups will also be at the Market Place.

Question Time - 7:15pm
The Market Place will be followed by a more formal Question Time, where you can put questions to Councillors and senior Council officers. Questions can be submitted in advance using the form at www.redbridge.gov.uk/localforums or asked on the night.

6 Nov 2015; Lizzie B at the RAFA

Steve Collins says:

You might have caught a preview on Sunday at the Ilford Library Fabula Festival when 'Rimpy' & Kuldeep and Ian Hollyer augmented a range of spoken word presentations with some musical contributions. If you missed it then here's the perfect opportunity in the friendly and intimate atmosphere of the RAFA Club to chill out to some beautiful sitar and tabla music and join in singing Ian's collection of popular classics! Topping the bill with her delicious mix of original songs and tasteful covers (including Joni Mitchell and Sarah McLachlan) is Lizzie B, taking a night off from her band commitments with Jamie Williams & the Roots Collective!
Hope to see lots of you there for another wonderful evening!
