All you need to do is spend an hour over the weekend of 24-25 January counting the birds in your garden. It's that simple!

RFF warmly invite you to join us at our Women’s Interfaith Workshop:

‘Preserving the Memory ~ what did we really learn from the Holocaust?'

Interfaith women workshops are held to enable women of all ages and from different faith backgrounds to meet together and discuss topics that really matter to them. The programme for this workshop will include watching a trailer of the film “Besa: The Promise “(2012). When the Nazis occupied Albania, not a single Jew was betrayed by its citizens - mostly Muslims. It is an untold history that resonates today.”(Imdb) We will then follow on with a group discussion on “Preserving the Memory ~ what did we really learn from the Holocaust?”

Taking place shortly before Holocaust Memorial Day, RFF is inviting people of all faith and none to a cycle of workshops on the legacy of the holocaust: sadly still a very relevant theme for our age. RFF is proud to open the debate with a session for ladies only as part of our Women Interfaith Workshops. We will be discussing what preserving the memory really is - looking at genocides that have happened since the Holocaust and are still happening. Come, share, discuss and learn.

Message from Steve:

To help things get off to a really good start we have managed to book two brilliant and very varied folk music duos to kick off our new season in style. You wouldn't want to miss either of these great acts and to have them on the same bill......well, we're spoiling you really!
Playing Rapunzel and the Jones Boys between them represent many facets of what is so good about acoustic live music - beautiful singing, superb musicianship, variety of styles and instrumentation, humour, originality and great tunes - in fact the best in entertainment!
Do hope you can make it next Friday 9 January at the RAFA Club
See attached flyer for full details - spread the word among your friends and get the New Year off to a flying start!
Best wishes
Steve Collins

PS Another amazing double-bill at our other venue Ilford Sports Club on Friday 23 January with The Traveling Tilburys and Black*Scarr - put the date in your diary now and watch this space for full details!

9 Jan 2015: TTIP explained at the RAFA Club

January Meeting to look at TTIP threat to public services
Come and join the discussion!

To kick off the New Year's activities, the January meeting of Redbridge Trades Union Council will be held 7.30-9pm on Friday 9 January at RAFA House, 295 Cranbook Road, Ilford, Essex IG1 4UA.

A group of friends and delegates of RTUC have been gathering information on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Treaty (TTIP), and Henry Tiller (NUT) will present a report on this to the meeting.

Although much of the negotiation over this treaty has been going on behind closed doors, it is clear that under the guise of a "liberalisation" of trade, big business interests are hoping to carve up and privatise public services.

We are looking forward to a lively discussion. I think this meeting will attract some interest and we will welcome guests from the trade unions and the community to take part.

Very best wishes for the New Year!
