15 Jul 2017: Give & Take at Orchard Community Festival

Give and Take Days
With Amey & Redbridge Council

A Give and Take day is a waste exchange or swap event; a chance to get rid of things you don’t need any more and pick up something you do need.
ALL FOR FREE!

Our very first Give and Take event in the Central library was a great success and inspired us to work in a partnership to offer our residents a regular venue.

Our next tranche of Give and Take days will be held on the following dates:

Saturday 15th July 2017: 12:00noon - 4:00pm
Orchard Community Festival, 152 Broadmead Road, Woodford Green, IG8 0AG
Donations will be accepted until 2 pm.

Please bring along books, CDs, DVDs, sportswear, bric-a-brac, clean clothes, kitchenware, homeware, toys and games. Unfortunately we are unable to accept bulky items (such as furniture), infant car seats or electrical items. For these items see TCL Reuse.

Since October 2014 ‘Give and Take – Community Swap Shop’ events organised by Amey in partnership with the Redbridge Recycling Team has rehomed 2200kgs of items.

Redbridge residents have had the chance to donate, swap or just take something no longer wanted by another member of our community – all for free.

The events are great fun, save residents money and make local sense out of reducing waste.

If you would like to organize a ‘give and take’ event amongst friends, or in a community group, all you really need to start with is a table or two and a date! You can grow the event as you go along if you find you’d like to.

3 Jul 2017: Tomorrow (Demain) - A French film for the Future

Monday 3 July 2017
18:45 – 21:30 BST

Booking and Map

Leytonstone Library
6 Church Lane
Leytonstone
London
E11 1HG

Description

Already viewed by over 1.5 million people in France alone, and winner of Best Documentary at the Cesar Awards (the French Oscars), Tomorrow tells the story of the search for solutions to the crisis humanity faces. Hugely positive, life-affirming and inspirational, this film explores creative solutions in the fields of food, energy, transport, economics and education. It visits permaculture farms, urban agriculture projects, community-owned renewable projects, local currencies, creative schools, ambitious recycling projects. It has boosted the formation of many new community projects. The perfect antidote to the current sense of global despondency. It also has a great soundtrack!

And speaking of soundtracks, we will be having a half-hour audience discussion after the film ends at around 9pm, where you can tell us what you thought of the film. We will also be recording some vox pop interviews (with permission of course) as we did here for In Transition 2.0.).
